I thought I would do something fun today. Chuck Wendig, the crazy funny writer over at Terrible Minds, is having a flash fiction challenge. I had fun doing a couple of these, though the other involved a lawn gnome and a girl sinking into a newly laid lawn. Don’t know where that came from.
Revenge story. 100 words. Here’s mine.
A pit jawed open in her guts. Spoon on the sink, dirty brown stains on the mattress. She pushed the side table over, the debris on top clattering to the floor. He was lying there, pale, drooling, with one leg kicked out under the holey knitted blanket. She was suddenly deeply, bone-aching tired. She searched the floor for the lighter, took it and a dried out cotton to the bathroom, where she located the bottle of Aqua Net. She sprayed it on the cotton and the mattress, flicked the lighter. He didn’t feel the heat until he was already charred.

Burn, ouch!
ooh, and AquaNet makes a sticky, sticky burn…
There was a boy in my elementary school who sprayed his legs with aqua Net and lit them on fire.
He was in the hospital for along time with third degree burns. It was pretty insane…
We all made sure we never lit hair spray on fire after seeing his legs.
very nice!
