Phantom Reality — An EP

As you know by reading this blog, I spend a lot of time working on music and writing. An acquaintance offered to help me finish an EP of my songs, a goal of mine for over ten years. A kind girl I spent some time with recently recommended Kickstarter for raising project funds, so I spent a couple of days working on a video and a project goal. I’m going to post it here, because who of anyone if not my readers will understand how important this is for me and be excited about it.

My “rewards” are silly, but creative. I don’t care if you support me through funds, the most important thing is spreading the word about this, through twitter, facebook, whatever, so that I can reach this small short-term goal and then be able to offer you access to a digital download of my songs, how I want them to be heard, not with just guitar and vocals, but with cello, piano, bass and drums.

Anyhow, here’s my project. It’s nervewracking putting myself out there like this, but I’ve seen success with my friends getting their creative projects off the ground using kickstarter. Sometimes everyone pitching in a buck or two is all you need, and everyone gets to feel like they helped you do something awesome and meaningful. I made the deadline very short, because I would like to record the tracks this month. If I don’t receive the fully pledged amount by December 21 (a mere $800) then no funding will happen and I will have to seek other means.

As an aside, this idea comes right at the same time when the newly launched Railroad Poetry Project has decided to feature me as their first poet of the month. Editor Amanda Eades has written a thorough critique of my poetry and done a short interview which will be posted shortly here:

I will be returning the favor and interviewing her about the Railroad Poetry Project, of which I am a BIG ENORMOUS FAN. I’m so stoked she chose me and love what she has to say about the eight poems she posted on the site, four of which are being published for the first time and you can see on the link above.

Now back to what you’ve all been waiting for…

Don’t laugh when you watch my poor video editing skills. :)
